📐 Artwork requirements
Set your file up right
Artwork files are printed as submitted. Please make sure your submission follows these guidelines — files that aren't prepared correctly may cause production delays.
1. Artwork is printed exactly as submitted
Your file goes straight to print with no changes on our end, so we can't be responsible for issues with the artwork or its setup. Need help? Email our designer at orders@heattransfervinyl4u.com — a fee may apply for review or minor edits.
2. Backgrounds will be printed
Any background in your file prints — including one added to represent a garment color. Save as PNG, PDF, or TIF to keep transparency. JPG and JPEG almost always carry a solid background, so remove it and re-save in a transparent format.
3. Use sharp, well-defined edges
Crisp edges give the best result. Soft or fading edges with transparency can leave visible white ink around your design, so keep outlines clearly defined.
4. Minimum design size: 0.25" × 0.25"
The smallest single design or logo we can print is 0.25" × 0.25" (6.5 mm × 6.5 mm). Artwork containing individual elements smaller than this may still be accepted.
5. Minimum line thickness: 0.02" (0.5 mm)
Lines thinner than 0.02" (0.5 mm) may not receive enough white ink or adhesive powder, which hurts the print's durability and washability.
6. Use 300 DPI at final print size
Build artwork at 300 DPI at the size it will actually print. Low-resolution files (72 DPI web images or screenshots) print soft and pixelated — enlarging them afterwards can't add detail back.
7. Leave space between designs
On a gang sheet, leave roughly 0.25" between designs and a small margin from the sheet edges. Designs packed edge-to-edge are difficult to trim apart cleanly.
8. No trademarked images
We can't print trademarked artwork (Disney, NFL, fashion brands, schools, and so on), screenshots, or watermarked images without the owner's permission. These are removed from orders; orders containing only such images are cancelled and refunded. Have permission? Send proof to orders@heattransfervinyl4u.com.
💡 What to expect
Before you upload
1. Screen colors won't match print exactly
Screens show RGB; we print CMYK. Some colors land close, but exact matching can't be assured. Design in CMYK mode for the best accuracy.
2. No color matching service
We don't offer color matching — including spot colors, Pantones, or matching other products we distribute. If a specific color is critical, run a sample first. Our DTF Pantone Color Chart gives general CMYK values.
3. Prints ship on a roll
Whether your file has one design or fifty, your order arrives on a roll. Designs aren't individually cut or separated before shipping.
4. Supported file types
Preferred: PNG (raster) and PDF (vector). Also accepted: JPG, JPEG (raster) and SVG (vector).
